June 14, 2004Steve Morse of the Boston Globe reports: "The terms 'string quartet' and 'heavy metal' aren't generally found in the same sentence, let alone the same universe. So how could any self-respecting music fan imagine string quartets doing instrumental tribute albums to such bands as METALLICA, TOOL, KORN, DISTURBED, and even the ultra-aggressive MUDVAYNE?
"And how could some of them actually be rather fascinating works?
"The unthinkable is now commonplace at Vitamin Records, a Los Angeles-based label that isn't selling albums by the millions but is finding that enough people — usually fans of the bands — are buying into its string quartet tribute series to make it viable. One hundred such albums have been released since the series was launched with a tribute to LED ZEPPELIN in 1999." Read more.
